D is a copycat

S is for:

Secrets; So being back in Germany, I met up with a few friends today and yesterday since I had not seen them for, like,  month? And today I found about one of them having a secret internet boyfriend that I had no idea about but apparently had existed for a year. It's interesting how all of us keep secrets even from their friends because they are too afraid that other will judge them. I personally have an awful lot of secrets from other people. At breakfast my friend Nadine, my sister and her friend were all sharing their plans for the future and when it was my turn, I didn't want to answer. Not because of my uncertainty, just because my plans sound too ambitious and closer to dreaming than to reality. But with you I can share. I can tell you about my wish to go to St. Andrews slash no other university but instead a gap year where I dream to learn and discover more about life than any textbook will ever be able to offer. Yes, I walk shamelessly braless after coming out of the shower when you are around. But that's because you feel so extremely familiar. I can share things with you. I am scared that you judge me, but I also think your opinion is really important.

Today my friend and I went to a deer garden to picnic in the warm sun. Here are some photos, I was wearing the top that you gave me selflessly, that also used to be our grandmas. Looking at this and previous blogpost we do seem to be very fond of grannies. Laugh out loud.

Memories

D is for:

Discovery; My grandma showed me a book today. It was written by her mum. She told me it was published in America by a relative some time after she had died. Obviously I got all excited about the prospect of MY great grandmother being some undiscovered, unpublished literary genius. I started reading it, hoping it would be some wonderfully poignant memoir, something I could show off to everyone and use as motivation to write a few pages about my own life.

Disappointment? Admittedly it wasn't exactly like what I expected it to be. But why does every novel have to have a high ratio of latinate words, and one hundred Oxbridge scholars sitting around debating its various fallacies?

Delightful :)

Squirrels

During a brunch with our family today, me and S's sister went for a walk and spotted a place in the trees that a big family of squirrels inhabited. First I thought it was only one - and I fell on my knee, my poor little knee, because I was overexcited of taking pictures - but it was so fast and I wondered how it could jump everywhere so quickly. And then I noticed it was not only one, there were two, no three, four, five...one of them was very cheeky: it made weird noises and slapt its tail against the tree. I think it was some kind of warning to its relatives because after a while I couldn't see any of them anymore and they seemed all hidden.

I did manage to take some decent pictures of them though:

This was the cheeky one, performing its cheeky dance

So today I basically went to that brunch, revised some biology which Z helped me with and read more of my current novel Jane Eyre. 5 more days in Turkey and then I will return to Deutschland....
She was Dilly, plain Dilly, in the morning, standing five feet 4 in knickers and no bra. She was Dilosh in slacks. She was Dil at school. She was Dilara on the dotted line. But in my arms (and on the blog) she is always
 D.

Grandma's Bedroom

I hate flying alone. Without you there, anything funny is awkward, anything intriguing is creepy...I'm talking about the huge man who sat next to me along with the three other passengers he was with; chin 1, chin 2 and chin 3. It made me remember that time on Easyjet ;) we sat next to that sweet  man with the decaying nose and endless story about his tragic life which would have been boring but wasn't because at least I had a funny D to help answer his intrusive questions with.
Feel free to judge my appearance. I selflessly stupidly left my
straighteners with D so I deserve every frizzy hair I get.

Right now I'm in grandma's bedroom revising and not eating sunflower seeds because of their effect on my skin and my current lack of foundation. Instead, I'm going to wait until I see you in Scotland in a few months and we can eat them together instead of doing anything fun or interesting. :P I wish I could be boiling to death with you in Turkey right now, kissing stray cats and trying to make my body move to J-Lo in ways only you can do.

I miss you and your laughter, sad girl.

S just left the house and is on her way to the airport to departure back to England. We had a great summer together ranging from exploring the shopping centers of the city to visiting new places that we hadn’t yet discovered to playing silly games on the balcony at midnight – pretending to shoot all the people on the street like 6-year olds. Our goodbye just now made me feel a bit like a child  – when I wouldn’t know when I would see S and her sister again and our holidays were the major way to meet each other. We would cry, write letters to each other that we were only allowed to read after our separation and I would miss company to play with. So I’m glad we have this blog to write to each other.

Hopefully I will be able to come to the UK in a couple of months to go on Open days of the Universities in Scotland that I am planning to apply to. Then we will see each other.

Till then I will miss you, S, and I hope you keep studying hard, and stay as kind and witty as you are – ach, ist doch selbstverständlich.

Your D

To document the sad face I have on my forehead. Please don't judge my appearance, it's like 6 o'clock here.

La Isla Soleada

Today we went to one of The Princes' Islands - the biggest, best one- in celebration of Ss 19th. We were taken, by ship, to the island, where horses substituted cars and fairy-tale houses, guarded by colorful flowers and stone figures, manifested into reality as if from a sweet dream.

We got there from Istanbul's European side by taking a vapour - a public ship that transports citizens from harbour to harbour - where we got sunburns which is why Ds body skin has turned into a rosy-cheeks like colour. Seagulls were following us on our way as if they wanted to protect us and join in our "celebration". Maybe they just wanted our food, whatever.

All in all it was a nice day, made up of icecream, cheap braceletes and other niceities. But the best thing we left with was an eternal souvenir in the form of a dazzling memory. And dazzling red skin to match.

S "studies" German at university in Manchester. As opposed to generative syntax, she likes:

Pinter
Patrick Wolf; half man, half amazing

S has too many aspirations for her limited amount of talent and drifts mindlessly through unrealistic and pretentious fads, wasting time and making friends. She has adopted Nabokov's description of 'silly and stylish' because of her perpetual love for fashion. And alliteration.

Introducing SD

SD

We're cousins who used who share the majority of our childhood together, even lived in the same house for a year; sharing experiences and slutty dance moves with each other. But we're now separated again, studying in two different countries. We are currently together in Turkey and have decided that it would be best to document our lives here from now on after not having seen each other for a year and barely chatting.

S has a sonorous brain and a sprightly heart. She spends her hours diligently not working at Manchester university. Her bed is her playground and music's her classroom. She's addicted to glamour and success but puts off ambition (for now), while she enjoys being 19 and in a long term relationship with her A.

D is a full-time dreamer who has more passions than she is able to follow. Having just turned into a senior she is an IB student in Germany where she has little time to free her mind. She finds herself having a hard time balancing her multiple passions and therefore does not always know exactly what she wants. She hates injustice and believes in humanity, hardwork and following her obsessions.

We share everything from clothes to interests, and now we'd like to invite you to share in the rest of our journeys through time. Smiley face.
